For over 55 years, AMG has stood for automotive top performance, exclusivity, efficiency and highly dynamic driving pleasure.
In 1967, a unique company was born from an overwhelming passion for motorsport and technology. A for Aufrecht, M for Melcher and G for Großaspach – the names behind these three letters started the rapid development from a two-man operation to a global brand under the Mercedes-Benz umbrella.
Since 1967, the company founded by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher has been fulfilling the dreams of people who are passionate about performance – an impressive success story.
The two-man enterprise founded its first workshop in an old mill in 1967. Today, Mercedes-AMG GmbH has around 2400 employees at its main site in Affalterbach.
Sensational: the class victory of the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG at the 24-hour race in Spa in 1971. It also finished second overall – a milestone on the road to success.
Offering road vehicles with motorsport technology was the plan from the beginning. At first, the focus was primarily on the design and development of racing engines.
Mercedes-AMG celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2022: an extraordinary success story consisting of motorsport triumphs, unique road vehicles and development into a globally successful performance brand.
The desert in no man’s land – the setting for a test scenario to eclipse all others. The new Mercedes-AMG GT: a coupé that defies the laws of physics. The AMG Hyperdome: created out of thin air, and ready to be tamed. The Mercedes-AMG crew: ready to take on the task. The guests: are there to witness a unique spectacle.
We believe in competition, ideas, peak performance, and superiority. Where the art of engineering meets a very special approach: welcome to the world of Mercedes-AMG. In keeping with this claim, we create automotive performance for the racetrack – and for the road.
The sight of it is impressive: AMG-specific radiator trim with large central star and vertical stripes plus the AMG insignia on the front of the vehicle, complemented by the AMG front apron with large air intakes.
Ready to start: AMG Cockpit with specific displays and functions, AMG Performance steering wheel with AMG steering wheel buttons and AMG carbon trim elements.
AMG and motorsport are inextricably linked. Striving for top performance, precision and efficiency is part of AMG’s professional self-image. Every Mercedes-AMG vehicle therefore includes a promise of outstanding performance, captivating driving pleasure and quality in every last detail.
From the most powerful standard-built 4-cylinder passenger car engine to extremely dynamic 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engines to passionately performance-oriented 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engines. Experience the rich variety of Mercedes-AMG vehicles, and revel in supreme Driving Performance.
The innovative AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL[3] suspension with active roll stabilisation using intelligent hydraulics enables improved turn-in and load change behaviour with typical AMG dynamics, precision and feedback for the driver. At the same time, it increases driving comfort when driving straight ahead and over bumps.

Press the start button and the passion will begin. Unambiguous. Because the powerful, sonorous roar of the AMG exhaust system is one of the trademarks of a Mercedes-AMG. And for purely electric AMG Performance vehicles, there’s the AMG SOUND EXPERIENCE with a wide-ranging emotional sound spectrum for a uniquely intense driving experience.
You drive proactively and with awareness because driving dynamics are an expression of your personality. Your Mercedes-AMG will support you at every moment since innovative AMG chassis technology ensures a balance between dynamics and control with a single goal in mind: the feeling of being in control on every bend.
We build the 4- and 8-cylinder engines by hand in the traditional way in line with the “One Man, One Engine” philosophy. A single technician assembles the engine and is responsible for all steps, from installation of the crankshaft and assembly of the camshafts to the wiring and filling with engine oil – as is made clearly visible by the technician’s signature on the AMG engine badge.
The expressive Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed promises the most intense form of driving pleasure: radically open with pure performance, innovative materials and maximum exclusivity. In the run up to the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the world premiere of this show car gives a first glimpse of a highly exclusive small series from Mercedes-AMG. Inspired by legendary race cars, the combination of uncompromising racing aesthetics and a highly dynamic driving experience makes the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed a unique collector’s item for connoisseurs.
The Vision AMG design study makes an emotional statement from every perspective. With this exceptional show car, Mercedes-AMG provides a glimpse into the fully electric future of AMG Performance. Underneath the stunningly styled shell of the 4-door coupé is the exceptional and stand-alone AMG.EA platform, which is currently under development in Affalterbach for fully electric performance models.
At last – after years of work, the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar is ready for the road – or maybe even for the racetrack. Never before have we built a vehicle that was as close to Formula 1 as the two-seater supersportler. From E PERFORMANCE hybrid technology from Formula 1 to the carbon monocoque and suspension with push-rod suspension legs, the hypercar offers uniquely complex technologies. Let’s roll!
The Formula 1 genes of the Mercedes-AMG ONE are clearly evident not only in its performance, but also in its uniquely muscular and aerodynamically optimised design. The air inlet grille on the roof, which transitions to a vertical fin, the tailpipe in the Formula 1 design and the unique paintwork are straight from the world of racing. For one reason only: to optimize performance and driving pleasure.
The minimalist interior design concept follows the idea of making Formula 1 technology an authentic experience on the racetrack and on the road: Formula 1 for two. The AMG motorsport shell seats integrated into the carbon monocoque offer the ideal seat position, the Formula 1-style steering wheel with motorsport controls ensures perfect handling and the displays provide information and overview.
Forget top performers – the Mercedes-AMG ONE goes one step further with its E PERFORMANCE hybrid powertrain with a 1.6-litre V6 engine and four electric machines. The engine with electrically assisted exhaust gas turbocharging technology is based on the current Formula 1 drivetrain. Optional magnesium wheels and unique aerodynamic concept contribute to the hyper performance.
